At Ein Stein Wine House, the wine making process is simple.
It requires very little involvement from you. In no time, you will have 31 750ml bottles of wine.
Wines that are made from 100% concentrated grape juice are ready in 4 weeks, while wines with fresh juice are ready for bottling after 8 weeks. You will be notified when your wine is ready for bottling.
How does it work?
- Call us and make an appointment.
- Visit our store and choose the wine you like (and yes, we can help you choose).
- We will guide you to mix the ingredients and sprinkle the yeast (the law says you have to!).
Our qualified staff take care of the rest (fermentation, racking, clearing, and filtering)
Let your wine age (4-8 weeks)
- Come back to the store and bottle your wine (this takes no more than 30 minutes).
- Open your bottle and enjoy!
Do I need to purchase bottles?
You can bring your own bottles (750ml) as long as they are very clean inside (don’t use soap to clean them- just hot water!). We will sterilize your bottles prior to filling them. Alternatively, you can buy bottles at our store – they are $1 per piece.
What is included in the price I pay?
Your package includes:
- Generic labels (only about 33% of wines come with labels)
- For an additional 10 cents per bottle, we can add decorative shrink caps/sleeves.
What if I want personalized wine bottle labels?
For customized labels, you can go online and source companies that specialize in crafting custom labels for wine bottles. You can upload photo’s, logo’s and customized text onto your labels. The labels will be delivered directly to you via email or mail, to your preference.
Can I come to the store and try my wine as its being made?
You can come to the store at any time to see how your wine is made and you can even try your own wine as it’s made. At this time, we can make any adjustments you ask.
A commercial retail store will not give you the same in-store experience!
How do I keep my bottles clean?
Always rinse your bottles once you have emptied them, use warm water and allow them to dry before putting them away. Always store your empty bottles upside-down in your cases.
How do I store my wine?
Storing is important as it will determine how long your wine will keep. Temperature, humidity, light and amount of preservatives is important to keep in mind. In general your wine will keep for 12 months with the amount of sulphites we use.
If you would like to keep your wine longer, please let our staff know so we can prepare your wine accordingly.
Once you have bottled your wine, keep the bottles upright for approximately one week, then put the bottles on their side so the corks will remain moist and allow the wine to breathe and age.
Do not constantly turn your wine.
Red wines will sometimes dust (leave residue on the inside of the bottle). This is normal. Simply decant your wine.
Store your wine in a cool, dry, dark area which is 55F – 65F. The temperature should be consistent. Bright light, movement, and temperature fluctuations can negatively affect the quality of your wine. Do not store your wine directly on a cement floor. Put a thick piece of wood under your wine storage boxes. And do not store your wine on heated floors.
